This Day Last Year: On October 26, 2008 several stars posed for pictures as they walked the green carpet at the movie premiere of Dreamworks’ “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa“. Among those were young black stars Jaden (profile) and Willow Smith (profile), sisters Chelsea Tavares (profile) and Kylee Russell (profile) and actors Raven Goodwin and Kristen Combs. Take a look at these Oldies but Goodies that were taken a year ago today at the Mann Village Theatre in Westwood, California.
Can you remember where you were a year ago today? Probably not!
Chelsea Tavares (profile) has just released a brand new track called “Love You Today.” The song was Co-Written by Chelsea herself, along with Timothy Bloom and Eric “eDouble” Erickson and Produced by eDouble. Take a listen to the track and let us know what you think. Chelsea has been in the studio working hard on new music lately so we should expect more from her soon. This track sounds good, and it’s nice to hear new music from Chelsea!

YBS was shocked and saddened to hear the tragic news of Michael Jackson’s death yesterday. He is a legendary icon that has lived throughout our lives and we never imagined a life without his presence. Many of the YBS Starz hold him as their inspiration for working in the industry so we thought, as tribute to his memory, we would post some of the reactions a few of the Starz have posted up about MJ and what he meant to them:
Kwame: IT’S A SAD DAY IN THE WORLD 2DAY R.I.P. MICHAEL JACKSON THANK YOU FOR ALL THE MEMORIES…HEAVEN WILL BE ONE BIG PARTY DANCING TO YOUR HITS!

He’s part of history. he made music wat it is 2day. this is so surreal. my prayers go out 2 the Jackson’s. ily all!

Yara Shahidi: Wow… I am very sad that one of my most favorite musicians died this week. Mr. Michael Jackson was an awesome dancer, singer, songwriter and person. If you have a chance, listen to some of his music.
Michael was one of the first Young Black Starz, starting his career at age 5, and proved himself to be a true talent from a very young age. We are so lucky to have lived during his lifetime and to have experienced some of his genius first hand. He will be missed but his spirit will live on through his timeless music.
Keke Palmer also posted a video about Michael on YouTube earlier today, which you can view by clicking read more. You can also see some of the Starz performing songs by Michael or the Jackson 5 as our musical tribute to him!
Please send your prayers up for The Jackson Family and all of those who were near and dear to him, especially his 3 young children! If you are one of the Starz and want your message to MJ included in this post, please email us.

KYLEE RUSSELL & CHELSEA TAVARES UPDATES!
Happy Monday, I hope you all had a great weekend! I have some updates and pictures to share with you guys! Kylee Russell just did an LG Electronics National commercial and a Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes “Plant a Seed” National commercial (which aired during the Super Bowl). Kylee and Malcolm David Kelly were also in Utah during the Sundance/Slamdance Film Festival. Their movie, Mississippi Damned, was screened and it made it to the top five in the Slamdance Competition! We have some pictures of Kylee and Malcolm at the Slamdance Festival below. You can also go to www.mississippidamned.com and go on the news to be updated on what’s going on with the movie.

Kylee’s big sister, Chelsea Tavares is now a senior in high school getting ready to graduate. She’s also in the studio working on her music and has written some really nice songs! We’ll share more on that later.
Thanks to the girls mother Mrs. Tavares-Russell for the updates!
