BIOGRAPHY

Chelsea began singing at the age of 5 and wanted to try acting at age 10. In kindergarten, Chelsea modeled in a Macy’s fashion show; and was asked to open the show by singing “I Believe I Can Fly.” Amazed by her powerful voice, innocence and stage presence it was evident that this is what she was born to do.

Chelsea’s very first Broadway audition landed her the starring role of “Young Nala” in The Lion King at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. Her contract was extended and she performed the final show after more than 300 performances. She then started landing co-starring roles in shows such as “Girlfriends,” “Judging Amy,” “The District,” “Desperate Housewives,” Ned’s Declassified,” and “Just Jordan.” She has been in national commercials such as Salvation Army, Post Cereal, and Children’s Hospital.

After all this on-camera work, Chelsea missed her roots of musical theatre, voice, and dance. She then auditioned for a scholarship at the Professional School for the Arts in Torrance, earning scholarships in musical theatre, dance and voice two years in a row; she then auditioned and got into Debbie Allen’s acclaimed Dance Academy. As if she wasn’t getting enough musical theatre, she booked the part of Duffy in “Annie” at the La Mirada Performing Arts Center.

Chelsea has also always loved being in the water and in 2000 joined the Synchro Swans of LA, the only African American National Synchronized Swim Team. Chelsea, the graceful swan, won third place in the Synchro Duet at her 1st synchronized swim competition from the Los Angeles County Aquatics Association. Chelsea was featured on The Later Today Show on NBC struttin’ her stuff, after the world got wind of this amazing African American girls national swim team. Chelsea, in her prime, was forced to quit because of booking The Lion King. (Oh well, she got over it!)

Most recently, Chelsea has booked the role of “Dorothy” in The Wiz at the El Rey Theatre and finished working in the cast of “13″ at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. Though Chelsea is very tiny, only 5’0″, she packs a punch, entering her senior year at Beverly Hills High School. Chelsea is a cheerleader at Beverly Hills High and at UCLA won the coveted 2006 All-American Award from the National Cheerleader’s Association for displaying superior qualities including leadership, showmanship and technique; granting her the opportunity to be a part of the select few who were given the choice to either cheer at the Hula Bowl in Hawaii or the Orange Bowl in Miami, in front of thousands of spectators at the half-time show.

Chelsea is no stranger to stage or the camera, but likes to spend her free time writing music, cooking, hangin’ out with friends, going to the movies, and doing community service – tirelessly raking in countless hours. She was awarded the Virtue Award at Love and Order Christian Fellowship in Los Angeles, where she is the co-director of the Children’s Drama Department and is on the Music Team. Chelsea has worked hard for each and every part and she ain’t tired yet!

She also hopes to get her clothing line for young girls launched soon.
