I'm not an expert or anything but here is what I've learned....

Are you sure about that? Lol! That was a lot of info for someone who's not an expert to know... but that's good because I knew that there were some things we should avoid like Silicone etc in our hair products but didn't know them all. I had to stop using Motions because of the Silicone. I loved my Motions too... but I have to do what's best for my hair. Lol

I've also learned that my hair grows more when I don't touch it. To be honest since I'm a homebody I rarely do anything to my hair. I will maybe put it in big plats and wrap it in a satin scarf for days at a time... taking it off to put in oil or something only and wrapping it back. My hair grows just from doing that... and it gets more wavy too for some reason.

Truly I been through the storm and rain
I know everything about heartache and pain
But God carried me through it all
Without His protection I'd surely fall
You can't tell me that God isn't real
'Cause I got the victory and that's why I'm still here

Haven't been in YBS in a long time but I saw this thread and just had to comment. I'm been growing my relaxed hair out for 9 months and I've went through alot of trial and error. In the beginning I wore micro braids because I didn't want to deal with my natural hair. Then I went to wearing a sew in but since I have a really dry scalp it was hard for me to properly wash and maintain my hair. I then decided to wear my hair the way it was. At that point I had about an 1.5 inches of new growth with my relaxed hair. So I was flat ironing and blow drying my hair alot. My ends became severely split, so over thanksgiving break I decided to get my ends clipped and my hair color.

Well, she ended up cutting 2 inches off my hair and it looked so much healthier, so make sure you maintain the ends of your hair. Then I got a sew in for about 2 weeks and took it down. The color dried my hair out at first but then I used a product by motions for chemically damaged hair and it felt much better.

I've never really had a problem with getting my hair to grow atleast to my neck but it's maintaing the length thats hard. I've had my hair heat damaged so many times its ridiculous. Then one time, i didn't comb my hair out after taking down my kinky twist. NEVER EVER DO THIS. It was so painful and I lost alot of hair. My hair was totally jacked up!! I currently have a sew in that will stay in my hair for 3 months. I've done alot of research on how to maintain it. I also try not to use mineral oil or petrolatum but since my scalp is dry I have to place it on there every now and then.

I currently use Kera Care, Carols Daughter, tea tree oil, castor oil, shea butter, tresemme. I also use suave clarifying shampoo once a month to get all the oil out of my hair. I only use wide tooth combs to detangle as well. I also wash and condition my hair atleast once a week. I've also turned into a HUGE product junkie!!

Thats my spill on my Natural Hair Care Journey laugh
