JORDAN’S REVIEW: ICE AGE: DAWN OF THE DINOSAURS

jordansreview_iceage

Hey guys! Jordan here, and this time, I’m reviewing the new 3-D movie “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs,” the third installment in the Ice Age movie series. The story follows mammoths Manny and Ellie, sloth Sid, and saber-toothed tiger Diego on their adventure to a vast jungle under the ice filled with dinosaurs, who were thought to be extinct, where they also meet a slightly-crazed weasel named Buck. I really enjoyed this movie. It’s perfect for the whole family to see. It’s funny and has a lot of heart, though some kids over ten may find it a bit cheesy or childish at times. I think it follows up to the previous two Ice Age movies very well, and is a nice addition to the series, possibly the best of the three. I give this movie four out of five popcorn bags for it’s humor, animation, and special 3-D effects! Thanks for reading!

JORDAN’S REVIEW: UP

jordansreview_up

It’s Jordan! This week I’m reviewing the newly released Disney/Pixar movie, “Up”. This movie is a comedy about a 70 year old salesman, Carl Fredricksen who, as a last resort to escape lifes obstacles, ties thousands of balloons to his house in an effort to fly away and fulfill his life long dream of great adventure. He eventually discovers an 8 year-old stow away by the name of Russell. This does not make Carl happy but he learns through many adventures to cope with the situation. This movie is another amazing work of art from Pixar with vivid colors and animations. Its hilarious at times with jokes the entire family can laugh at. Everyone will enjoy the exciting adventure and the heartfelt moments throughout the movie. Even better, “Up” is presented in 3D at certain theaters. I give it a rating of 4 out of 5 bags of popcorn for its animation, wit and storyline. Its a great film for the entire family!

Thanks,
Jordan Adkison

JORDAN’S REVIEW: HOTEL FOR DOGS

jordansreview_hotelfordogs

Hey Everyone… Jordan here and this time I’m reviewing Hotel For Dogs. This is the story of brother and sister, Bruce and Andie. They are two kids that love dogs and decide to save as many strays as they can and keep them in an abandoned hotel. The movie revolves around the crazy time they have protecting the dogs from the dogcatchers and the unique ways they take care of them. Also, the bond that is formed in the process.

The movie casts includes amazing actor Don Cheadle, Nickelodeon star Emma Roberts, Disney Channels Jake T. Austin and of course one of my favorite actresses Kyla Pratt (whose profile can be seen here on YoungBlackStarz). I felt that this was a great movie…very entertaining and from the response of the theater audience…all the kids around me thought it was a big hit. Actually the parents seemed to enjoy it too!

I thought it had funny lines, smart gadgets, cute dogs (some not so cute!) and even some emotional situations. This movie had everything so I give it five out of five bags of popcorn!

Go see Hotel for Dogs this weekend with the entire family.

This has been Jordan’s Sassy Cinema Reviews and please check back soon for the animated thriller, Coraline.

Dueces till next time!

JORDAN’S REVIEW: BEDTIME STORIES

jordansreview_bedtime

Hey guys, my name is Jordan Adkison and I have started a new column entitled “Jordan’s Sassy Cinema Reviews“. Whenever a new kids movie is released my review will be here along with a rating. Five bags of popcorn being the highest possible.

My first review will be about the family comedy Bedtime Stories. Its been out for a little while but for those of you still deciding whether to see it, I hope this helps: Adam Sandler plays Skeeter, an uncle who has to babysit his neice and nephew for a couple of days. During this time he finds out that whatever the children add to the bedtime stories, it comes to life. He goes through a series of adventures caused by the kids wild imaginations.

I thought the movie was very entertaining. It was a good family comedy and has lots of funny moments. I however believe that it will be more entertaining to kids under the age of nine because it gets a little silly in some parts. There was a great storyline, good acting and funny jokes.

I give Bedtime Stories 4 out of 5 bags of popcorn for its humor, storyline and because it reminds us to have a vivid imagination. A great way to start 2009!
