YBS welcomes Mariah Wilson (profile) as our newest Fresh Face! This 15 year old talented actress, singer, and dancer has been entertaining since she was a toddler. Mariah began dancing at age 2 and acting & singing at age 4. You all may recognize Mariah from the award winning movie “Dreamgirls” which stared Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, and others. Mariah played the role of Magic, the daughter of Effie (Jennifer Hudson). Mariah was the first actress in the history of Dreamgirls on Broadway to play this character!

Mariah has appeared in a number of other films including “You, Me & Dupree“, “Christmas with the Kranks“, “Be Cool“, and others. She has also shown up on television screens appearing on Lincoln Heights, Tyra Banks, and a Kmart commercial, just to name a few. Mariah has also appeared in theater and has done many performances. Being the amazing singer that she is, Mariah Wilson has also recorded a number of songs as well.

YBS would like to introduce you all to 12 year old actress Blesst Bowden (profile)! Blesst has been acting since the age of 5 and seems to be well on her way. She has held major roles on television shows such as Campus Ladies, Lucky Louie, and Chocolate News. She has also done quite a few commercials for Wal Mart, Dairy Queen, McDonald’s, Oscar Mayer, and many others. Michael Algieri (profile), 8 year old actor and model, is our first Fresh Face of 2010 here at YBS! This New York native started his career out with modeling at the age of 4 and later began acting. Michael has appeared on the kid friendly television show Sesame Street and has done commercials for Fisher Price, Six Flags, and Ameriprise. He has also filmed a couple movies: the Lifetime movie America where you played the role of America (age 6) and another movie titled HappyThankYouMorePlease which will soon be going to the Sundance Film Festival. Outside of acting and modeling, Michael enjoys Kenpo and is working on his black belt which is pretty cool! Brandon Smith (profile) and Cymphonique Miller attended the premiere for Disney Animation Studios’ ‘Prep & Landing on November 16, 2009 in Hollywood, CA. Prep & Landing is a computer animated Holiday special scheduled to premiere on ABC on Tuesday, December 1st, 2009 at 8:30pm (ET). See a preview HERE.

Brandon Smith stars as Nico Harris on Disney Channel’s “Sonny with a Chance.” Cymphonique Miller aka Little Miss Swaggar is an upcoming singer and actress who is also a contestant on Radio Disney’s Next Big Thing where viewers can vote on who they think should be Disney’s next big star. Sisters Jazmin Du Veaux (profile) and Jacqueline Du Veaux (profile) are the freshest faces here on Young Black Starz! The talented duo have done commercials, film, print and runway. They have only been auditioning for a year but have already built up notable resumés. Jazmin, who is 12, has just completed a stage play called One Woman Two Lives with actress Kellita Smith of “The Bernie Mac Show” where she played the role of her daughter, Trina Cooke. Jazmin is a well trained dancer, plays the piano, and also works on her vocals.

Jacqueline, 7, can currently be seen in the Juicy Couture Do the Dont’s Fall 2009 Campaign (Worldwide); she was the only ethnic child picked for the whole campaign! Jacqueline has also done print for Kraft Lunchables and she and her sister Jazmin can both be seen in the new film Touched due out in 2010. The girls are well on their way as upcoming models and actresses.
