Young Black Starz was launched in November 2004 to spread the good news and support those who are young, black and shining! Our site is one of the top spots on the web to discover fresh new talents as well as learn fun, factual and exclusive information about your favorite young stars. We put the names and stories to faces you see every day in commercials, print ads and other forms of media. We also feature the latest news, bookings, music, photos, videos and much more!

Behind The Site

Hey! I’m Toria, I’m from Philly (Philadelphia, PA) and I’m the Founder and Chief Editor at Young Black Starz. I do it all from the back-end, to designing, to blogging and everything in between. I began this website in 2004 as a message board under the name ‘Black Girl Fame’ as a way to support those girls who were doing big things in entertainment. By April 2005 we became a full website and eventually we expanded to include boys as well as those who shine in other areas.

I’m sort of shy and mysterious and I have a special kind of LOVE for art, technology, nature, exploring my surroundings, capturing moments, and expressing myself creatively. Besides who I am around here I am also one of many children (I suffer from middle child syndrome LOL), an auntie to twelve — so far (more on the way, yay!), and a god mommy to a very intelligent, inquisitive, creative, compassionate and active 10-year-old. I am also a digital designer and an aspiring photographer who hopes to someday work with some of the many stars I support through this website.
