Yara Shahidi

Tween model and actress Yara Shahidi will have her schedule full in the coming weeks. The 12 year old who recently started the eighth grade, will be starring in not one, but two feature films next month and a new sitcom later this month! Click under now for details and some new photos of Yara.

Yara will star alongside actors Jennifer Garner and Ty Burrell in the upcoming film Butter coming to theaters on October 5, 2012. In the movie Yara plays the starring role of Destiny, a 10-year-old orphan girl with butter-carving talent. Later that month on October 19, 2012, Yara along with her little brother Sayeed Shahidi can be seen on the big screen again! The two will play siblings and the children of a detective named Dr. Alex Cross who tries to track down a killer in the movie Alex Cross. Alex Cross is played by actor, director, and playwright Tyler Perry.

Currently, Yara and Sayeed are taping episodes for their new syndicated sitcom The First Family; a show that follows the President’s day-to-day life in the White House and stars seasoned actors Christopher B. Duncan, Kellita Smith, John Witherspoon, Marla Gibbs, Jackee Harry and Michael D. Roberts. Yara and Sayeed play two of the President’s four children in the show. Young shiners Layla Crawford and Khylin Rhambo also star as the president’s children.

The First Family premieres later this month on Saturday, 9/22 and Sunday, 9/23 on various CBS networks. You must check your local listings to see when and where it will air in your city.
