ALIX LAPRI TALKS TO US ABOUT HER NEW EP, TURNING 16, CELEB CRUSH & MORE

Young Black Starz had a chance this summer to interview yet another young shiner — 15-year-old rising powerhouse Alix Lapri! The Crown World Entertainment recording artist will be releasing her new EP entitled ‘I Am Alix Lapri’ featuring her singles “Cause of Your Love” and “Feels Good” on July 9th and she took some time out to tell us about it! Read our exclusive interview now to see what Alix had to say about the new EP, her new web series also titled ‘I Am Alix Lapri’ which will give fans a glimpse into her life, and what she’s looking forward to most about turning sixteen this year.

What kind of songs can listeners expect from your upcoming EP ‘I Am Alix’?

This EP is definitely going to show off the pretty, girly side of me while still giving that edgy bass feel such as my new single “Cause Of Your Love”.

Can we expect any collaborations?

No collabs this time around, but on my next project be looking out for some!

Do you have a favorite song from the EP?

I wish I could say that I could pick one, but everything is put together so beautifully that I can’t choose! The writers and producers did such a wonderful job!

You have been singing since you were three years old. When did you realize that singing was definitely what you wanted to do as a career?

At around the age of 9 it hit me that I really wanted to give this a shot, but it was always in the back of my mind.

Do you remember your first performance in front of an audience? What was it like?

Well I remember being extremely nervous but sooo happy at the same time. I was only five, so I hadn’t had much experience with big crowds. I remember forgetting the words and wanting to run off stage, but instead I stayed up there and made up my own verse to sing to the crowd!

Who are some of your musical influences?

My biggest musical influences are Britney Spears, and Beyonce. I just love female power figures. They inspire me to become one of the greats just like they are.

Are you home schooled or do attend an actual school?

I started being homeschooled at the beginning of 9th grade.

What are your strongest and weakest subjects in school?

My strongest subject is definitely English. I love writing stories and poems, and even songs! Unfortunately, my weakest subject is Algebra.

You’ve just premiered the first episode of your Web Series I Am Alix Lapri. What fun things can viewers expect in forthcoming episodes?

They will get so much of me as a person. I know a lot of them have been asking what my father looks like and what happened to him, so I am making an episode explaining that subject. I want them to get to know me personally!

Aside from singing, what are some of your other loves?

I am absolutely addicted to shopping! Shoes, clothes, accessories, I love it all!

Last year you appeared on a few episodes of the BET series ‘Reed Between the Lines,’ was this your first time acting?

I had done a few stage plays previously, but theater is so much different in comparison to television and film.

Do you plan to do any other acting projects in the future?

I would love to do more in the future!

You are originally from Topeka, KS, right? Is there anything you miss about your hometown?

I really miss all my friends and family because I definitely gained some lasting relationships there.

What don’t you miss about it?

The only thing I don’t miss about it is its a small town and I’m more of a city girl.

You’re going to be celebrating your Sweet 16th birthday this year! Are you planning a big party?

I’m not sure if I’m having a big party unless someone’s trying to surprise me, but I wouldn’t mind having one!

What are some of the things you’re looking forward to as a 16 year old?

I can’t wait to be 16 because I really want to be able to drive!

Any celebrity crushes?

Justin Combs caught my eye, and I’ve been crushing ever since!

Can you tell us one interesting fact that fans may not know about you?

I’m an extremely picky eater, so my mom has to practically force me to eat what’s good for me!

Haha I don’t want to start any debates with this one :p but I gotta go with West Coast!

Ice Cream.

Pool or Beach?
Beach.

Shopping for shoes or shopping for handbags?
Definitely shopping for shoes, not too much of a bag type of girl!
