The sister and brother duo Yara Shahidi, 12, and Sayeed Shahidi, 9, are working together again! The two just completed taping the pilot for Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios new scripted comedy The First Family. The show will follow the President’s day-to-day life inside the White House managing children, bickering family and not to mention, the entire country!
Yara was cast as the President’s teenaged daughter and Sayeed as the 7-year-old son. Khylin Rhambo and newcomer Layla Crawford were also cast as the children.
The First Family features a lineup of veteran African American actors including Christopher B. Duncan (Jamie Foxx Show) and Kellita Smith (The Bernie Mac Show) as the President and the First Lady, singer Gladys Knight and actor John Witherspoon as the president’s mother and father, Marla Gibbs (The Jefferson’s and 227), Jackee Harry (Sister Sister and 227), Michael D. Roberts (Seinfeld) and Paul Rodriguez.
The studio has ordered 104 episodes of the show which they plan to put into national syndication in Fall 2012.
