FRESH FACE: KIARA MUHAMMAD

Kiara Muhammad voices the title character of “Doc” in Disney Jr.’s new animated series Doc McStuffins, which premieres on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 10am/9am Central on Disney Channel/Disney Junior. The series is about a 6-year-old girl who runs and operates a clinic for broken toys and worn out stuffed animals. Fanlala recently got to chat with Kiara about the upcoming role and more:

Kiara on what makes the show Doc McStuffins interesting and different:
It’s a show that teaches you how to live a healthy lifestyle, including getting exercise, eating right, and keeping up with your hygiene.

On what she and the character Doc have in common with each other:
We are both African-American. I also had and played with a lot of stuffed animals at 6 years old. I would pretend my stuffed animals came to life, and I would talk to them.

How she feels voice-over acting differs from “real life” acting:
In real life you can see your emotions. But in voice-over, you have to put everything into your voice, so sometimes I would have to do movements or little things like that to make it sound right to give the emotion that was needed.

What she’s learned since she’s starting acting:
I learned that acting isn’t the fame and glory everyone thinks it is. It takes a lot of hard work, and you really have to enjoy it, and I love it!
