Nazie

Eight-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis (pronounced Kwah-VAHN-Jah-Nay) is a starlet to look out for! If you haven’t heard of her yet, you may soon be hearing a lot about her. She has been receiving rave reviews for her performance in the Sundance Film Beasts of the Southern Wild. In the film, Quvenzhané (who’s known as Nazie) plays the role of Hushpuppy, a young girl living with her father in a remote rural community surrounded by water in Southern Louisiana.

Before this role, Nazie had no previous acting experience. She was actually discovered by the film’s director in the library! “My mom had a friend and she said that they had an interview at the library, so we went and we met Michael and Benh and that was it,” she said. But even with her lack of experience, Nazie did not fail to WOW the crowd with her performance in the movie. Its even being predicted by MTV.com that she will be 2013′s “Best Actress” for an Academy Award!

With natural talent and her huge and outspoken personality, she is surely a talent to watch. Way to go, Nazie!
