YBS was shocked and saddened to hear the tragic news of Michael Jackson’s death yesterday. He is a legendary icon that has lived throughout our lives and we never imagined a life without his presence. Many of the YBS Starz hold him as their inspiration for working in the industry so we thought, as tribute to his memory, we would post some of the reactions a few of the Starz have posted up about MJ and what he meant to them:

Chelsea Tavares: Michael Jackson is one amazing man. his originality and creativeness inspired all of us. he knew wat he wanted since he was 5 yrs old. and he put his all into it, and achieved it! although there will NEVER be anotha MJ, he makes ppl want 2 accomplish the same goals as he did. and thats what im aiming 4! He’s part of history. he made music wat it is 2day. this is so surreal. my prayers go out 2 the Jackson’s. ily all!

Yara Shahidi: Wow… I am very sad that one of my most favorite musicians died this week. Mr. Michael Jackson was an awesome dancer, singer, songwriter and person. If you have a chance, listen to some of his music.
Michael was one of the first Young Black Starz, starting his career at age 5, and proved himself to be a true talent from a very young age. We are so lucky to have lived during his lifetime and to have experienced some of his genius first hand. He will be missed but his spirit will live on through his timeless music.
